Editorial Board Mandate and Guidelines for Editorial Board Members:

  1. The Editor of Cloelia and the members of the Editorial Board are responsible for producing the annual newsletter of the WCC. It is expected that each newsletter will be coherent, balanced, easily read, and related to the overarching mission of the WCC.
  2. The Editorial Board will consist of the Editor of Cloelia, 5 Editorial Board Members (henceforth EBM) and an advisory member from the elected members of the Steering Committee. These 7 people will form the Editorial Board and will be referred to collectively as the EBM.
  3. Each EBM must be a member of the WCC in good standing.
  4. Each EBM will serve for a three-year term.
  5. Each EBM will serve without reimbursement.
  6. The main purpose of the Editorial Board is to provide advice to the Editor in all matters related to the annual publication of Cloelia. These include, but may not be limited to, areas related to the administration, reviewing, editing, layout, copyright, and publishing of Cloelia.
  7. Each EBM will be responsible for editing several items for each yearly newsletter. These will be assigned on an ad hoc basis with preference given to specialty or stated areas of interest. Please note that it may not always be possible to assign a submission to an EBM with an expertise in that area.
  8. In editing a submission, the assigned EBM will be given the contact information for the author and may be expected to converse by email with the author in order to fulfill their editorial responsibilities.
  9. Each EBM will be expected to converse frequently via email with the Editor in regards to a specific submission or Cloelia as a whole.
  10. Each EBM will be given a preview of the final issue of Cloelia and will be expected to make comments related to content and aesthetic considerations in a timely manner. The elected members of the Steering Committee will also be given previews of each issue for comments.
  11. Final editorial control for each issue rests with the Editor.
  12. Editorial Board meetings will take place via e-mail. No real time meetings are scheduled at this time.
  13. Changes to the Mandate of the Editorial Board, the Editorial Mandate of Cloelia, or the Submission Guidelines, must be approved by the Editorial Board and, following consensus of the Board, by the Steering Committee of the WCC. Reviews of the Submission Guidelines and the various administrative Mandates of Cloelia will occur each Fall following the publication of Cloelia online (and prior to the Call for Submissions for the next issue). Any updates or changes will be posted on the Cloelia page of the WCC Website and will appear in the next issue of Cloelia.
