*GRADUATE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE*

We are currently seeking nominations for a graduate student representative for the WCC Steering Committee.

 The primary responsibilities of the position are to attend the Steering Committee and Open meetings at the APA, organize the WCC booth at the APA (and sometimes CAMWS), and participate in email discussions of the Steering Committee, providing a student perspective. The WCC will contribute up to $200 towards each graduate representative’s travel expenses in order to enable her/him to attend the APA (provided that funding is not available from her or his institution).

 In addition, all our student representatives have come up with initiatives of their own for fostering awareness of the WCC among students and addressing student concerns. These include the enormously successful APA cocktail hour (now co-sponsored by the Lambda Classical Caucus).

 We hope that the experience will prove valuable for the student representatives as well as for the WCC. Our current grad representatives, Leanna Boychenko (leannaboychenko@gmail.com) and Ted Gellar-Goad (tedgellar@gmail.com) would both be happy to answer any questions about what the job entails.

 Please note that this is not a suitable job for a new graduate student or one who expects to graduate in the coming year. Most of our previous grad reps have served for two years or more, learning the ropes in their first year and subsequently creating and acting on new initiatives.

 Interested candidates will be asked to provide a brief, informal statement of their current situation and reasons for interest in the position. Self-nominations, or nominations by a fellow student, should also include the name of a faculty person who is willing to endorse the candidate. The final choice will be made by the Steering Committee in consultation.

 The deadline for nominations is MARCH 31st.
