Equity Fund, Travel Fund & Child Care Fund
It now possible to make donations to the Equity, Travel and Child Care Funds via PayPal (see our selections, below).
The Equity Fund helps to promote such programs as Childcare and Travel Grants.All Caucus members in good standing, including graduate students, are eligible to apply for grants from the fund.
Some recipients of the largesse of the Equity Fund have been supported to attend the Annual Meeting, to assist with childcare costs at the meeting. All applicants must have been WCC members in good standing by 15 January 2011 (undergraduate and graduate students) or 15 January 2010 (post-PhD scholars). The deadline to apply for Child Care Grants for the January 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA is December 1, 2011, and your request should be sent to Prof. Antony Augoustakis (aaugoust@illinois.edu).
The Caucus maintains a second fund, the Travel Fund, derived from voluntary contributions. The purpose of this fund, set up in 2008 in memory of our members Corinne Crawford and Shilpa Raval, is to provide a limited number of Travel Grants to help offset the expense of attending the APA Annual Meeting. To be eligible, applicants must be WCC members in good standing with dues paid by January 15, 2011. The deadline to apply for Travel Grants for the January 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA is November 30, 2011. Applicants should e-mail Professors Karen Bassi (bassi@ucsc.edu) and Alison Glazebrook (aglazebrook@brocku.ca) with a brief statement explaining their purpose in attending the APA (i.e. job interviews, presentation of or commentary on a paper, attendance at panels) before the November 30, 2011 deadline. Please include the following information in the e-mail: a. rank in field (graduate/undergraduate/post-doctoral); b. employment status (graduate student/temporary position/tenure-track or tenured); c. any financial support offered by home institution; and d. a rough estimate of the total expense requested.
